AIA Central Virginia has a program to support architects pursuing fellowship.
The program offers two major benefits:
A mentor. Applicants will be paired up with a member that has recognized as a Fellow to guide and support the applicant through the process.
Money. The chapter sets aside $1500 per year in the annual budget to support applicants in the process. Typically, this money goes to pay a professional graphic designer (who is familiar with the Fellowship process) to help prepare a high-quality application. The amount available to an individual depends on the number of applications received in a given year, but no applicant can receive more than $1500 total.
The application process begins in June of each year and proceeds as follows:
Members apply to the Honors & Awards Committee with a letter of interest and CV.
Honors and Awards Committee reviews the applications and makes a recommendation to the Board.
The Board approves the recommendation and decides how the budgeted $1500 stipend will be distributed.
The Honors & Awards Committee assigns a mentor to the approved candidate(s).
Candidates are put in contact with graphic design support.
